Surfwear Trends: What We Envisage Through 2024

As our Australian summer has come to completion and we step into autumn, we reflect on the summer trends, and from this space, we predict what is to come in the surfwear industry. As we enter into a deeper state of consciousness of our fellow humans, our surroundings, of Mother Nature especially our oceans, of sustainability and perhaps even slowing down an increasingly paced world, we reflect on how this shapes how we present ourselves. This may include taking a pause and a breather from our ever-increasingly fast-paced world, and stepping back into older styles and even reviving them as a means of appreciating our roots, and that often things in the past are just as good, if not better than a constant consumption-mentality for what's new.

Here's a snippet of our thoughts:

  1. Sustainable Materials: There's likely to be a continued emphasis on sustainability in surfwear fashion, with more brands opting for eco-friendly materials and production processes. This includes working with more local on-shore businesses, and to support our fellow small, family-run businesses.

  2. Versatility: Surfwear that transitions seamlessly from the beach to everyday wear may become more popular. This could include pieces that are both functional for surfing and stylish for casual wear. We already strive to extend our message of the importance of being a gentleman, to be kind, courteous and conscious in the waves, onto land, through our surfwear.

  3. Tech Integration: With advancements in textile technology, we may see surfwear incorporating more performance-enhancing features such as moisture-wicking fabrics, UV protection, and improved durability.

  4. Retro Revival: Nostalgic nods to past surf fashion trends, such as vintage prints and silhouettes, could make a comeback in modern surfwear collections. We love creating new design styles to screen print on bright, soft colours to help freshen up the surfwear industry and bring more of a vintage, personalised, retro feel to our gorgeous, soft, comfortable garments.

  5. Customisation and Personalisation: Brands may offer more options for customising surfwear, allowing customers to create unique pieces tailored to their preferences. We are always open to receiving feedback from our valued customers on what they love, dislike, and would love to see in future! We take everything on board, so if you have any suggestions don't hesitate to get in touch with us and have a chat!

These are just speculative trends, and the actual direction of surfwear fashion in 2024 may vary. It's always a good idea to stay updated with industry news and fashion forecasts for the most accurate insights but these are our insights and also a snippet of the direction we choose to take based on our own discernment of the way forward with connection and collaboration along our beautiful coastlines.
